These should be returned duly completed and signed accompanied by copies of school leaving results and a writing sample of three pages before advertised closing date. Late applications may be considered upon pay of the penalty application fee. Determination of admission will be by the Academic Affairs Council Committee constituted by the President, the Registrar, Academic Board of Studies Chairperson, Secretary, Principal and one from the Board of Councillors.
Registration:
It will take place during the first week of the academic year in accordance with arrangements prescribed each year by the Dean of Studies or the Registrar of the College. A student’s registration shall not be confirmed until he or she has fulfilled the requirements for the payment of fees as prescribed by the College Administrative Secretary or Bursar of the College.
Attendance
A student registered for any programmes studies is expected to attend all classes prescribed for that programme, including tutorials, conferences, seminars and any practical sessions that may be required. For absences on grounds other than of health, prior permission of the Dean of Studies or the Principal shall be necessary. If a student is unable to attend classes for health reasons, he/she must notify the appropriate authority as soon as possible, and for absences longer than 3 teachings days must submit in support thereof certification by a registered medical practitioner.
Plagiarism To plagiarize is to present the ideas or words of another as one’s own. As such, plagiarism is an academic offence in the sense that theft, piracy, and robbery are in ordinary daily life. Although all authors use other people’s words and ideas, the key to avoiding plagiarism is explicitly to acknowledge one’s sources by using quotation marks for direct quotations in the text the name and notes or footnotes or words one is using. Students should ask a faculty member if in doubt whether a particular practice is or is not plagiarism. Any student caught in plagiarism may be dismissed from the college.
Examinations
To be admitted to any formal examination, a student must be a registered student of the college, must have completed all the requirements of that course and must have fulfilled all the requirements for the payment of fees.
Where applicants have a recognized Diploma from another institute, the Dean of Studies will determine which courses, if any, may be granted credit.
Foreign Applicants:
Foreign applicants without the requisite Zimbabwean qualifications must hold the equivalent and must also satisfy the college as to their competence in written English.
All applicants will be required to satisfactorily pass an interview either at the College or by an external College appointed interviewer.
Fees
Students are expected to provide or arrange payment of their fees themselves or through their sponsors. Fess are payable on the first day of class attendance or each semester and students will not be permitted to enter lectures until payment has been made. However partial tuition scholarships are available for students who are able to demonstrate genuine need.
Applicants for scholarships must be made in writing to the Registrar and may include an interview to assess the level of need. Tuition scholarships are dependent on the availability of funds.
